Researchers from Benin and Germany Collaborate on Blood Analysis Technology

In October, two researchers from INRAB, the National Institute of Agricultural Research of Benin visited and received hands-on training at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) laboratory. During a one-week stay, they were introduced to a blood analysis method established by the nutritional Physiology at TUM. They learnt to prepare and analyze blood samples, and they also took part in a general presentation on laboratory security in Germany.

National policy roundtable presents key PARI findings to policy stakeholders in Ethiopia

On October 12 and 13, 2017, 53 agricultural stakeholders met in Addis Ababa for a national policy roundtable to discuss the policy measures needed to promote agricultural development in Ethiopia. These included representatives from Ethiopian government ministries, development organisations (including the GIZ), farmers’ cooperatives, private sector organisations, as well as educational, extension, and research institutions (FARA, ZEF, AGRODEP/IFPRI).  The Policy Roundtable was organized by PARI and hosted by the Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI).Read more National policy roundtable presents key PARI findings to policy stakeholders in Ethiopia

PARI side-event at AGRF-2017 stresses need for innovations to drive agricultural growth in Africa

At the side-event of the Program of Accompanying Research for Agricultural Innovation (PARI) at the African Green Revolution Forum 2017 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, leading researchers and policy makers presented their ideas on how and where to best target innovation investments for sustainable agricultural growth and rural development. Farmer Innovation Contest starts in Mali

From the 13th to 20th August 2017, FARA team and the Institute of Rural Economics (IER, Mali), prepared the ground for the launch of a Farmer Innovation Contest (FIC) in Mali. This consisted of training of farmers innovations scouters and the contest facilitators in Koulikoro, Segou and Sikasso regions in Mali. Part of the preparation also involved fine-tuning of jingles in French and Bambara for radio publicity on the farmers innovations contest.
