PARI team travels to India to study digital services for livestock producers

A team of PARI researchers from the Hans Ruthenberg-Institute of Agricultural Science in the Tropics from the University of Hohenheim traveled to India to learn about the current stage of digital applications for livestock farming in India. While there is a consensus that digital agriculture has the potential to transform agriculture, little is known on what is happening on the ground in developing countries. Researcher Thomas Daum: “The ideal African farm is a diverse one”

To feed Africa, the continent needs to develop its agriculture. Governments strive for larger-scale farming, with mechanisation and digitalisation, to produce crops in a more efficient way. But this modernist view, focusing on tech, may not be enough to entice young Africans to pick up farming. Partnership with African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) in Nairobi, Kenya

On the 8th of May 2019, a coordination meeting was organized at the AERC offices in Nairobi, to discuss the next step for the newly signed partnership between AERC and PARI.
