We used 18 years (between 1996 and 2016) census data of large and medium manufacturing industries as well as periodic surveys of small-scale manufacturing industries data, collected by the Central Statistics Agency (CSA) of Ethiopia for analysis. We also conducted key informant interviews of owners and/or managers of 10 heterogeneous agro-processing industries in Addis Ababa and its surrounding to substantiate the quantitative assessment.
