We are delighted to announce the recently launched publication: Africa and India: comparing countries’ and states’ economic and agrifood system developments and lessons for public policy, co-edited by Joachim von Braun and Ashok Gulati. This cutting-edge volume offers a comparative and insightful examination of how African countries and Indian states are navigating structural transformation in their agrifood systems, economic growth and public policy.

Drawing on rigorous matching of Indian states with African countries and providing fresh analysis of drivers of growth, nutrition outcomes and public-spending implications, it presents actionable lessons for policymakers committed to inclusive and sustainable development.

The book was in-officially launched at the African Food Systems Forum (AFSF) in Dakar, Senegal — underscoring its relevance to the continent’s food-systems agenda and South-South learning frameworks.
