The PARI side-event on ‘Innovation for agricultural growth, food security and nutrition in Africa and South Asia’ during the 29th International Conference of Agricultural Economists in Milan, Italy.
There are many new agricultural innovation initiatives under implementation; but there is lack of comprehensive assessments. The session aims to assess the impacts of initiatives for innovation in support of growth, food security and nutrition in Africa and South Asia (of different scales, such as German supported “OneWorld without Hunger”, US “Feed the Future”, AGRA, India’s agricultural growth initiatives, and national and local initiatives).
The objectives of the session were:
- To explore enhanced analytical and model frameworks for impact assessments of such initiatives for innovation;
- To share experiences of transdisciplinary research, i.e. research-policy-practice cooperation around such initiatives, especially if the approach facilitated impact.
