The University of Hohenheim developed a milk cooling solution based on a commercially available DC Refrigerator equipped with an adaptive control unit for its conversion to a smart ice-maker that operates depending on the availability of solar energy. It can help small- and medium-sized dairy farms to improve the storage, transportation, and hygiene of their produced milk.
