The PARI partner Zambia Agricultural Research Institute (ZARI) has trained leading  agricultural stakeholders in Zambia to promote the use of the System of Rice Intensification (SRI). SRI has been proven to significantly increase rice productivity, and can represent a step towards increased food security and reducing poverty in the region.

In order to maximize the reach of this training, local leaders including agricultural supervisors, block extension officers, agricultural assistants, camp extension officers, and lead farmers on the technology. They were given 2 kg of Charma rice seeds and the tools required to successfully lead PARI-SRI trial Farmer Field Schools in the 2016-17 agricultural season.
